When making soy candles, you can add essential oils or fragrance oils to give your candles a pleasant scent. Essential oils are natural, plant-derived oils that have a strong aroma. They are often used for their therapeutic properties and can be added to candles to create a natural, uplifting fragrance. Fragrance oils are synthetic oils that are created to mimic the scent of natural materials. They are usually less expensive than essential oils and can be used to create a wider range of scents.

It's important to use a high-quality, skin-safe fragrance oil when making candles, as some fragrance oils can be irritating to the skin. You should also be aware of the flashpoint of the oils you are using, as oils with a lower flashpoint may evaporate more quickly and may not hold up well in candles. You should also pay attention to the amount of oil you are using, as using too much oil can cause the candle to burn poorly or create excess soot. In general, a good rule of thumb is to use about 10-15% fragrance oil by weight of the soy wax.
